Pool Plumbing and Skimmer Repair in Wayne NJ, Done Right

Pool plumbing repair work usually shows up the first spring after a bad closing: a split line, a cracked skimmer box, or a valve that seized over the winter.

Some of those are a quick part swap at the equipment pad. Others mean cutting the patio, replumbing the line and setting it back in new concrete. Either way the job gets scoped properly before anything is opened up, so you know what you are paying for.

Most freeze damage traces back to one skipped step

The overwhelming majority of split lines we repair in North Jersey come from a closing where the blow out was rushed or skipped. Water sits in the line, freezes, expands, and splits the pipe underground where nobody sees it until spring.

Why unions matter and most pads do not have them

A lot of equipment pads are glued solid, pipe straight into pump straight into filter with no unions. It works until something needs replacing, and then a twenty minute swap becomes a cutting and repiping job.

When we repipe a pad we put unions in on purpose. It costs slightly more now and saves real money every time a pump or heater gets changed for the next twenty years.

Flow problems that do not need digging

A pump that loses prime, whines, or spits air is usually pulling air in on the suction side. Common causes are a low water level, a cracked pump lid, a dry lid o ring, or a skimmer line that is partly blocked.

None of those need digging. All of them get checked before anyone suggests excavation.

Skimmer boxes, pavers and tile

A cracked skimmer box is one of the most common repairs on an older pool. Replacing it properly means cutting out the patio around it, replumbing the line, setting the new skimmer and pouring new concrete, then putting the pavers or tile back so the deck looks right. It is close to a week of work, which is why we schedule it in early spring before openings start.

If the pool also needs a new liner, the skimmer goes in first and the liner after, so the new liner is never sealed around a part that is about to fail.

How a pool plumbing repair should be sequenced

A good pool plumbing repair is sequenced cheapest fix first. Check the pad, then the fittings, then the lines, and only then talk about opening the ground. Bigger jobs like a skimmer box or a repipe are best booked for March, so the pool opens sealed and running.
